" Jacob Everitt, born about 1735, died 1802. He was a German, a practicing physician and surgeon. Came to this country about 1755, was in Abercrombie's defeat at Ticonderoga with a brother who was all the relation he had in America. From the army he retired to New Jersey in Hunterdon County, there he married Hannah Langafelt, a daughter of a Presbyterian clergyman who died and the widow married a man by the name of Lambert. The Doctor then removed into Sussex County, N.J. in the Township of Montague on the Delaware just above the farm where Allan Everitt now lives (1854) and practiced his profession from 1770 until his death in 1802. His practice extended from Deerpark to Bethleham, Pa. He had eight children, viz: John, who was a blacksmith, lived to be old. Christian married Saml. Crossman. Jacob was shot by the Whiskey boys after the Revolution. Godfrey died young. Abraham moved to Owego, N.Y., was one of the first settlers. Isaac was a blacksmith, died when he was 61 yr., 11 m old. Marshall moved to Michigan, died 1835. George lives in Michigan, has three children, Erastus, Mary Ann and Christian."
