John D. Everitt Teaching Contracts and Poll List


Contract of 19-March-1825

       We the subscribers of the township of Montague
County of Sussex and state of New Jersey do agree with John
D. Everitt to teach a regular English day school in the
schoolhouse near Richard McKeeby's in Montague for the term
of three months for which service we promise to pay him One
Dollar or two bushels of good rye on or before the expiration
of sd term said Everitt is to teach reading writing and
arithmetic to the best of his knowledge and we the subscribers
agree to furnish the school with a sufficientcy of fire wood
this 19th March 1825.
