John D. Everitt's attendance records
The editor is indebted to the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution for permission to publish this HTML version of a document in their library. That document, with the imposing title ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT FOR TEACHING Between JOHN D. EVERITT and EARLY SETTLERS of MONTAGUE and SANDYSTON TWPS. SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. 1815-1829 also JOHN D. EVERITT'S ATTENDANCE RECORDS, was prepared circa 1937 by the DAR's Chinkchewunska chapter. See "Original title page" for a complete attribution.
The document from which this HTML transcription was prepared is a 33-page typescript--itself a transcription--apparently made from the original documents. The typescript does not contain any information about the provenance of the originals, nor does it indicate whether the collection at hand was complete.
The typist who transcribed the original documents appears to have preserved oddities of spelling and punctuation. These have been faithfully carried forward into this HTML transcription. Corrections have been made only where an overstrike was made by the typist. The line breaks (including hyphenation) and column spacing of the typescript have also been preserved.
The typescript contained an index which led the reader to occurrences of names. Because the page numbers in the typescript index would be meaningless in this HTML version, the typescript index has been discarded. It has been replaced by an HTML-oriented name index in which each entry is a hyperlink to the page on which the name occurs. There is no index entry for John D. Everitt because his name appears on nearly every page.
